LINCOLN MKS COMES IN RUNNER UP IN THE LOVELAND PASS CHALLENGE.

TBD
Posted November 10, 2009

A Lincoln MKS with it’s innovative EcoBoost™ V6 engine came in runner up by a split second behind a V8-powered BMW 500i in the Loveland Pass Challenge, conducted by Motor Trend and AUTOMOBILE Magazine on August 24, 2009, at the famed Loveland Pass in Colorado.

The field of participants were a V8 Mercedes-Benz E550, a V8 Maserati Quattroporte, a BMW 500i V8, a Jaguar XF Premium 5L V8, and a Lincoln MKS, powered by the available new 3.5L EcoBoost V6.

The Loveland Pass Challenge, a series of time trials, put the cars to a demanding, winding climb up one of the highest passes in America, to determine which car would reach the summit in the least amount of time.

The event is covered in a series of five webisodes. Content includes the Loveland Pass Challenge — how it was set up and conducted, EcoBoost engine design and technology, detailed specs of the four foreign luxury autos, and the time trials with cameras mounted on the cars showing a firsthand view of what the driver of all five cars experienced.
