How do I change the Automatic Updates settings on my SYNC®*?

Your SYNC 4-equipped vehicle will arrive with Automatic Updates ON. We recommend keeping Automatic Updates toggled to ON for the best ownership experience.

Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation

There are two resources to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation:

  • The SYNC and Navigation Updates page allows you to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Log in with your Lincoln credentials, and select Check for update. Your current SYNC generation will appear on the right-hand side of the page.
  • The SYNC Visual Reference Guide has example images of each generation of SYNC Lincoln has offered.

Changing the Automatic Updates Settings

Select your preferred method below:

SYNC 4

To change the Automatic Updates settings:

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Press System Updates.
  3. Toggle Automatic Updates to your preference, ON or OFF.

Important:

  • If both Automatic Updates and Notifications are OFF, your vehicle will not receive any updates.
  • If Automatic Updates are OFF and Notifications are ON, you will not receive Lincoln Enhance software updates automatically. You will be prompted to accept the updates.

To change the Automatic Updates settings:

  1. Log in to the Lincoln Way App.
  2. Tap the Vehicle tab at the bottom. 
  3. Select Software Updates.
  4. Toggle the Automatic Software Updates to ON or OFF.
