How do I transfer vehicle ownership in the Lincoln Way®* App?

In order to use the Transfer Vehicle Ownership feature in the Lincoln Way App, ensure you meet the requirements listed, then follow the steps below.



  1. Log in to the Lincoln Way App.
  2. Navigate to the Service tab.
  3. Select Service History.
  4. Tap the Transfer button.
  5. Input the buyer's email.

Note: Only emails associated with a Lincoln or Ford account will be verified by the system.

  1. Verify which of the following outcomes presents itself:
    • The email address entered is not valid.
    • The email address is valid, but not associated with any Lincoln or Ford account.
    • The email is valid and associated with an account, and the Transfer button has turned red.
  2. Select Transfer.

Note: The Transfer Pending notification will appear. This will inform you of the expectations and the number of days the buyer has to accept your request.

Your app will now say Transfer Pending on the Service History page.


After the seller completes the transfer request, you will receive a Transfer of Ownership notification. It will inform you that you have 10 days to accept the transfer.

  1. Log in to the Lincoln Way App.
  2. Open the notification.
  3. Select View Details.
  4. Tap the box if you agree to the conditions stated.
  5. Select Submit. You will receive a success screen.

Note: If the vehicle is equipped with an embedded modem, you will be prompted to complete a Master Reset.

Note: If for any reason the request expires before the buyer accepts, the seller can send another request and restart the process.
