What is Lincoln's Automatic Engine Shutdown?

Vehicles with Intelligent Access and Push-Button Start have the ability to turn off if the engine has been idling for an extended period. This feature can be disabled temporarily.

Notes:

  • Automatic Engine Shutdown cannot be disabled permanently. It re-enables the next time the vehicle starts.

  • The instructions here are specific for vehicles with SYNC®* 3.

  • This feature is also designed to save battery power.

  • Refer to your owner's manual for:

    • SYNC 4.

    • When the steps below do not match your vehicle.

  • Instructions can vary by vehicle model. See your Owner's Manual for further information.

Temporarily Disabling Automatic Engine Shutdown

Select the appropriate option below:

SYNC 3 Touchscreen

  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC 3 screen.

  2. Select Vehicle.

  3. Toggle 30min Max Idle to Off.

Information Display

  1.  Scroll to Settings on the information display using the left-hand steering wheel control.

  2. Press OK to select Vehicle.
  3. Deselect the Auto Engine off box.
