What is Lincoln's Automatic Engine Shutdown?

Vehicles with Intelligent Access and Push-Button Start have the ability to turn off if the engine has been idling for an extended period. This feature can be disabled temporarily.

Notes:

  • Automatic Engine Shutdown cannot be disabled permanently. It re-enables the next time the vehicle starts.
  • These instructions are specific for vehicles with SYNC®* 3.
  • This feature is also designed to save battery power.
  • Refer to your Owner's Manual:
    • For SYNC 4.
    • When the steps below do not match your vehicle.

Temporarily Disabling Automatic Engine Shutdown

Select the appropriate dropdown below:

SYNC 3

  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC 3 screen.
  2. Select Vehicle.
  3. Toggle 30min Max Idle to Off.

Information Display

  1. Select Settings on the information display using the steering wheel control.
  2. Choose Vehicle.
  3. Deselect the Auto Engine off box.
