Is my Lincoln Navigator included in the new Navigator recall?

Lincoln Motor Company has been informed of a potential risk of interior fire occurring in certain 2015 to 2017 model year Lincoln Navigator vehicles. We are currently working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to notify clients.

Important: Unlike Recall 22S36 and 22S48, the risk of interior fire is only present while the vehicle is turned on.

What is the issue tied to this recall? 

Ford Motor Company has decided that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2015-2017 model year Lincoln Navigator vehicles. Certain vehicles built in this time frame may experience front blower motor overheating and risk of interior fire.

What is the cause of the issue?

Ford Motor Company has not identified the cause; however, it is believed to originate inside the front blower motor, which is located on the passenger side interior behind the glovebox.

What is the expected repair?

The remedy is a different blower motor design.

You will be notified by mail and instructed to take your vehicle to a Lincoln retailer to have your existing front blower motor assembly replaced with a revised service blower motor assembly. If you experience blower motor symptoms (inoperative, intermittent, excessive noise, burning smell, etc.) prior to the availability of the remedy blower motor, the retailer will install a new blower motor service part of the current design. Once the redesigned, remedy part becomes available, the retailer will replace the blower motor assembly with the new design part.

Why is Lincoln not instructing clients to park outside as it did for the 2021 MY Navigator fire recall (22S36 and 22S48)?

Lincoln has not issued instructions to park outside under this safety recall. This safety recall is unrelated to safety recalls 22S36 and 22S48 which were approved in July, affecting later model year Navigator vehicles (2021 MY) for a fire risk originating in the battery junction box located in the engine compartment. Because that recall involved an issue that could occur while the vehicle was parked and the engine off, clients were advised to park outside.  This new safety recall (22S56) on 2015-2017MY vehicles is different, which can only occur when the vehicle is on.

Which vehicles could be impacted by this recall?

2015-2017 model year Navigator vehicles built between January 16, 2014 and June 30, 2017.

When will you notify clients?

We will begin notifying clients on September 12, 2022.

Will there be a charge to clients?

There will be no charge for this service.
